Tatyana Kulida
Tatyana is a realist landscape and portrait artist with a life long passion for the arts. Born in Russia, Tatyana spent her youth playing the piano and developing the taste for the visual arts while taking yearly trips to Moscow’s best museums and enjoying the vast collection of her mother’s art books. It was then that Tatyana first became acquainted with amazing works of Levitan, Kramskoi and her Crimean neighbor – Aivazovsky. In 1998 the 17 year old Tatyana left her country and travelled to the United States to start her training in the visual arts and mathematics. As an IT consultant with degrees in Information Systems and Arts Management Tatyana worked with businesses as well as arts non profits until she realized that her true satisfaction could only come from creating beautiful artwork. After the birth of her daughter, Tatyana started spending more time painting. Because of a change in the pace of life warranted by motherhood, through observation inspired by new life and wonderment of her child, Tatyana saw the world around her with new eyes. Tatyana developed a passion for plein air landscape painting. Through numerous color sketches, Tatyana studies color and value information as well as the composition to understand the sense of a place. These studies then allow her to compose a larger painting in the studio.
As a college student, Tatyana spent a summer session at Florence Academy of Art in 2001. That ignited her passion and devotion to realist art. But it took nearly 10 years -when in 2010 Tatyana returned to Florence - to join Florence Academy of Art full time, this time as a professional artist and a mother. Currently, Tatyana is furthering her artistic studies in Classical Realism, and portraiture while exploring her creativity in the classical beauty of the Tuscan landscape. .
